Outreach Ministries
Box Ministry
This program supports a local family each month by providing a variety of household products, personal care items, and school supplies. The collection box for this outreach is located in the narthex.
Urban Ark Soup Kitchen
Over 20 members of Bethel serve on Meal Teams. The teams purchase, prepare, and serve the Sunday afternoon meal at The Urban Ark (at Trinity Lutheran Church, downtown) on the third Sunday of each month. Other area congregations serve on other Sundays of each month. Bethel’s Meal Teams rotate responsibility with each team serving once every four months.
Urban Ark Food Distribution
Members of Bethel spend one morning a week driving to the Food Bank in Akron, loading a van, and returning to the Urban Ark to unload food that is distributed each week to those in need.
Habitat for Humanity
Each spring and summer Bethel joins with other Lutheran Churches in the Canton area to build two or three Habitat Houses in the city of Canton.
CONVERSATION Radio Program
Together with eight other congregations who are part of the Canton Area Lutheran Ministry (CALM), we support this radio program.
Fair Booth at the Stark County Fair
Bethel initiated this project of the Canton Area Lutheran Ministry (CALM). Working together we put a face on Lutheranism in Canton for those coming through the fair grounds.
Fair Booth at the Celebrating the Family Fair
It’s been a privilege to be a part of this delightful fair organized by Faces of Stark County for three years. Helping families nurture their children is one of Bethel’s priorities.
Quilting Group
This group is known as The Busy Bee’s. They descend upon the church each Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. and produce tied quilts, health kits, and school kits for Lutheran World Relief.
Women’s Group
Once a month this group gathers for study and prayer. Throughout the year they do numerous acts of service and outreach.
Men’s Group
A monthly Saturday morning breakfast meeting brings this dedicated group together to plan the ministries they will engage in through the church and community. They are integral to Bethel’s involvement in Habitat for Humanity.
Host site for the Fairgrounds Residential Neighborhood Association
This neighborhood association is not a church group. Everyone who lives in the area between Tuscarawas & 9th and Claredon to Roslyn is welcome to attend the meal and meetings on the last Tuesday of each month. Bethel hosts and participates in the association in order to be a good neighbor to all who live in the neighborhood.
